this entry is dedicated to Ms Serene Leong.
known her for about a year.
she was one of my debating teachers..
who guided me through my endeavour of becoming a debater.
i vaguely remember the times when the group of us would sit in the staff training room.
we would spend hours pouring over debate topics.
i remember ms leong always giving us pointers here and there...
we'll always crack some lame jokes with her.
chee choong, gabriel, jason.
i remember the last debate comp.
we all ate with her at this coffee shop where she treated all of us..
we kept laughing at nicholas with her.
i remember the times when she and mrs champion would hear our speeches..
before the comp..
i remember her asking of us to remain calm during the last comp.
she prayed for our O levels and the success of the comp
i remember her sitting nervously when it was our team's turn to speak
i remember her scruffy handwriting when she passed me her reply speech
which she hastily written out.
its strange.
how life goes
i just met her last week thurs clearly
we met and discussed about the sec 3 debating team.
though it was a hasty conversation..
we both laughed
i met her again on friday during racial harmony
at the bookshop
she smiled at me.
its so ironic.
heh.
i can still recall after our last comp..
we went to the canteeen and took some stoopid pics..
ms leong taking the cam.
still remember her kindness..
she even went ahead to write my recommendation letter
even though she was hospitalized.
i'll always remember her smile.
then she'll always say 'Oh Hi'
its so strange.
the lasting memories of my debate life with her were short.
but eventful.
and full of laughter and smiles.
i'll always remember how many books she'll carry..
and even at times when i asked to help..
she'll just say her style of 'no need lah'
i remember that time when she told me her passion was debating.
and me and chee choong were like saying it was ours too.
which put this big smile on her face.
...
we all had memories with her.
it was a sad day
teachers cried.
some were angry.
some were confused.
lai sing sir cried.
mrs loh was stoned face
mrs tan was stony
i didn't believe when i heard the rumours
i didn't believe what yong jian told me
i didn't believe what mrs koh told her class
i didn't believe what her student said
i didn't believe she was taken away from us.TO THE BEST DEBATING TEACHER AND TEACHER i've ever known,
ms leong,you will be missed.
